Young families need family rooms to work really hard for them.  When kiddos are little, they just want to be where you are.   They love having your nearby, whether they are playing, coloring or watching a video.

Welcome to a space where comfort meets intention—a serene family den designed for connection, restoration, and quiet joy. At A Nested Home, we believe your home should wrap around you like a soft blanket after a long day. A Room with Purpose: Where Milestones and Memories Are Made

A Room with Purpose: Where Milestones and Memories Are Made

When embarking on a new project for a client, our initial focus is to get to know them, and get to know their needs for their space.

We always start by identifying the perfect floor plan. Before exploring furniture, fabrics, rugs, lighting, or artwork, our starting point is consistently the pursuit of an optimal layout. Each client's space comes with slightly different requirements, and we thoroughly enjoy conducting an in-depth analysis to discover the ideal arrangement.

Spacious and Symmetrical Living Room

A really generous family room had our client stumped.  She was wondering how to make the most of every inch of their space.  They have tall sons, and everyone needed a spot to stretch out and be together comfortably.

9 Ways to Make a Big Family Room Feel Cozy

A big family room...... seems like the ideal scenario, right?  Well, until you sit down and to enjoy a nice quiet evening, and your room feels a bit more like a hotel lobby than than the cozy family retreat you had in mind.  Have you rearranged the furniture for what feels like the hundredth time, and it still just doesn't feel right?

One Cozy Family Room: Seven Different Ways

Ever wonder how to make the very most of your family room?  Ever wonder how to make your space even cozier for your family on those cold winter evenings?
We have a client that had some good, solid, upholstered pieces, but the space still didn't feel cohesive or finished.  The final layer is often the most important - rugs, tables, lamps and artwork can "sew" a whole space together.

Open Concept Space: Making It Work for the Whole Family

A large, open concept space was the entire reason the house was built.  Previously, the client had a more traditional, saltbox colonial with a series of smaller rooms.  When dreaming of the new house, they wanted an expansive family-gathering space where they could be together and purposefully use every inch of the room.

A Family Room that Functions for the Whole Family......Beautifully

Family rooms are the workhorses of the house, aren't they?   All of our most relaxing times are spent there, and they define how we come together as a family unit.
If they aren't comfortable or don't meet our needs, we tend to avoid them, or not use them to their full potential.....

Making the Most of a Long, Narrow Family Room - Nest Interior Design

Making the Most of a Long, Narrow Family Room

Sometimes challenging spaces force us to push and pull and stretch our creativity, as designers. When a family room needs to seat a crowd and be multi-purpose, we had to sharpen our (drafting) pencils a bit and think about the space differently. A standard sofa and pair of chairs just wasn't going to cut it...

Open Concept First Floor Furniture Plan... Making the Most of All of Your Spaces

A young family's first floor furniture layout just wasn't working for them.  A sofa, a chair, a couple of tables scattered around does not make a comfortable or cohesive space.  So, we started thinking about what the space could be, to accommodate the four of them easily, but could also swell to allow for a crowd.
