Working today on a layout to maximize every inch of a long, narrow living room.  This retired couple has lived in their home over 30 years, and needed to rework their space.  Previously, they didn't have a cohesive seating area that took advantage of the fire place and allowed them to watch television on those cold, long, Wisconsin winter evenings.
We layered in a comfortable sofa, love seat and lounge chair in the primary grouping.  With two, tall swivel chairs near the fireplace, this becomes a perfect conversation grouping.
With a console table behind the loveseat paired with an occasional chair, the console can be used for a laptop and returning a few emails at the end of the day.
With a pair of end tables and lamps on either side of the generous sofa, this creates a symmetrical focal point to balance the visual "weight" of the fireplace opposite.
This couple loves to collect antiques, and we layered in a display piece and storage chest, in opposite corners.
The client is an avid gardener, and by placing another, smaller seating grouping near the windows, they can enjoy the view of their beloved garden, year round.
With the right proportion of individual pieces, we were able to make the space more functional and intentional.

Which chair/couch will they sit in to watch tv? This is similar to my room and I am trying to figure it out.
