Every once in a while, a project comes together in a way that feels both beautifully timeless and completely tailored to the family who lives there. This gallery wall, installed in a softly painted sage hallway, is one of those moments—a space that now hums with warmth, history, and a little bit of magic.

The wall color sets the tone immediately: a gentle, whispery green that shifts with the light and brings out the richness of the home’s architectural trim. The wide, traditional casings and crown molding give the gallery a frame of their own, grounding the artwork so it feels architectural—not just decorative. Paired with the dark wood interior door, the entire vignette has depth, contrast, and an old-world calm that we absolutely love.

For the artwork, we curated a full collection of vintage botanicals—each one hand-drawn, delicately labeled, and full of character. We really wanted this to look like it was a collection that had taken years to acquire, so we varied subject matter and scale, intentionally.  From leafy sprigs to berry clusters to flowering stems, every piece celebrates the quiet beauty of nature. The subject matter feels classic yet fresh, detailed yet soft, and perfectly at home on these sage walls.

We hung the collection in a tightly composed grid, allowing the varied sizes to play off one another while maintaining a sense of rhythm. The simple wood frames keep everything cohesive without feeling overly matchy, giving the whole arrangement that lived-in, lovingly collected look our clients crave.  By strategically placing the pieces with lighter backgrounds throughout the gallery, your eye continues to move across the gallery in a way that it wouldn't if all of the darker or lighter background pieces had been clumped together.  By varying the frames of the pieces to at least three different styles, you will be able to add items to the gallery, even if your original frame style is no longer available.  If you had only used one or two frame styles, the new frames, when added later, would really stand out.  But, not in a good way!

To finish the space, we layered in a patterned upholstered bench (hello, texture!) that is perfect for setting down bags or packages, as you come in the door.  It brings life to the hallway and makes the gallery feel not just admired—but used and enjoyed.

This is the kind of space that invites you to pause for a moment, take a breath, and soak in the beauty of everyday living. And truly, that’s what a happy house is all about.
