An underused screened porch, an oversized pantry, and a cramped garage entrance—three spaces that were taking up valuable square footage without truly working for this home. Nestled in the Wisconsin countryside with sweeping views, the homeowners knew the space wasn't working, but weren't sure how to get started reorienting these areas to create a more seamless flow for gathering with family and friends, all while making the most of their stunning surroundings.

Our goal? To bring in more light, increase storage, and create hardworking surfaces—not just in the kitchen, but also in the adjacent mudroom and newly envisioned screened porch.
With their rural setting and two adventurous dogs, a dedicated dog shower was high on the wish list. Muddy paws are a daily reality, and this small but mighty addition would make life a whole lot easier.
To make these changes possible, some walls are coming down. By capturing the hallway and repurposing the pantry, we’re carving out a new mudroom and laundry room—a dedicated space for unloading groceries, managing daily comings and goings, and tackling those inevitable messes. Moving the laundry upstairs from the basement will also make day-to-day living more effortless for years to come, ensuring this home remains functional as the family plans to age in place.
Beyond practicality, we’re also rethinking the heart of this home—the dining area. By opening up the footprint, we’re creating a larger, more inviting space that encourages lingering over meals, storytelling, and connection. With the family room on the smaller side, this dining area will serve as an extension of their living space—comfortable, welcoming, and designed for moments that matter.
