Putting together a colorful and layered bathroom today, for a client's new home.  With a small footprint, we wanted to maximize the impact, and turn this into a textural "jewel box" of a space.
Starting with a graphic and modern wallpaper, we next added warmth with texture, to keep the space from feeling too geometric and cold.
Wallpaper is a great foil for interesting artwork, and this piece inspired the rest of the color palette for the bathroom.
With that, we needed a mirror that could hold its own and add a warm, tactile element to the space.  Made from a traditional material, but in a modern profile, this mirror was perfect.
We needed a spot to stash a few extra supplies, so in came this wall cabinet that is deep enough to be useful and shallow enough, not to feel overpowering.  The washed, black finish is bold enough, to not be "lost" on the graphic wallpaper.
Above the tall mirror, a painted blue vanity light is beautifully profiled against the bold wallpaper.  The texture and finish of the light are a little unusual, and add an unexpected, sculptural element.
This bath is also used as a powder room, in this home, so we wanted the space to have function and polish, as most everyone who visits your home will pop into the powder room at some point.  We added this beautiful Leiden Tray to corral a frothy fern plant, extra hand towels and a candle.
This burled tray is beautiful and glossy and has a variety of neutral tones that unite other finishes in the space.
The perfect foil to all the hard lines typically found in a bathroom is a frothy fern. As this space is windowless, this fern is faux greenery.
These turkish hand towels look lovely rolled up on the tray, so guests can easily grab a fresh hand towel.
Silver Hurricane - Sugared Lemon - Nest
Our favorite scent at Nest, this Sugared Lemon candle in mercury glass is a gorgeous and artisanal addition to the countertop.
This indoor/outdoor rug feels like wool underfoot, but is actually durable for outside, so it can easily be popped in the washing machine.  It doesn't look like a run of the mill bath mat, and elevates the aesthetics in this compact space.
This soap dispenser is a patterned terra cotta option, and looks like a "found" object and adds a textural touch.
As a counterpoint to our graphic wallpaper, we painted the ceiling in this soft and dreamy blue color.  This one is Windy Sky from Benjamin Moore.
A bold and modern faucet is a great counterpoint to some of the softer colors in the space and partners well with the bold wallpaper.
We also have a few canisters on the counter with extra cotton balls and cotton swabs, for easy access for guests.  The combination of ceramic with leather ties gives adds more texture and interest to the new bathroom.
