Chairish is a designer's best friend, but it can be a TOTAL RABBIT HOLE. Before you know it, four hours have gone by and you started out looking for a coffee table, and now you are cruising throught the imported Italian room dividers....What the f*&>? Here is how an interior designer with three decades of experience shops at Chairish.

1) Go out looking for the "quirk".  Chairish is not the place to look for neutral, trendy or big-box-anything.  Chairish is where we find all the weirdest and most unique finds to give brand-new spaces instant "soul".

2) Go in with broad terms, so you can be pleasantly surprised.  I did a broad search to find this painted, green console table for a client's new family room.  "Green vintage console" was my filter.  Don't get too specific with dimensions, styles, etc.  Someone selling their piece on Chairish may describe their green console table as an emerald sofa table, and you won't align.  Keep tweaking the wording of your search to see if any more options pop.

3) Make sure if you want a vintage piece, that the product's description clearly states that it isn't a new item.  Some new pieces are also sold on Chairish, so just make sure the piece you are getting isn't new, and still widely available.  Often, you can get a higher quality, classically designer

4) Set a timer.  May sound crazy, but I have to set a timer to make me stay focused and get in and get out of there.  If you haven't found what you are looking for within your timer's window, move on.
