Best, Sculptural Ceiling Fans
Ever feel like every ceiling fan looks like every other ceiling fan? After decades of helping clients find unique, personal solutions for their spaces, we have seen a lot of bad ceiling fans. Did I say a lot? I meant a LOT! Ceiling fans are often an afterthought, but shouldn't we take advantage of every design opportunity? Here is a list of our favorites, and why they will make a be the perfect finishing touch in your spaces.
Artemis XL5 Ceiling Fan with Light
This fan has the advantage of a fully-integrated light, warm wood-toned vanes and a propeller-like sculptural quality that makes it feel a bit more like a piece of art than a functional fan.
Ciara 52” LED ceiling fan - Brushed Nickel Walnut
Contemporary with polished chrome and dark, wood-toned vanes, what a stunner this would be in a bedroom or screened porch.
Ciara 52” LED ceiling fan - Satin Brass Wood
Yep, we survived (and designed) the last era of brass and wood-toned ceiling fans, but we love this wood and gold combo. This minimalistic fan is clean and architectural, and is a subtle finishing touch.
Cirque Ceiling Fan with Light
Okay, who could be in a bad mood in a room with this fan? This feels like a cross between mid-century mod/friendly alien/my daughter's science project. Completely unexpected, this fan is happy and dramatic.
Mahalo Windmill 72” Ceiling Fan
This fan feels masculine, without being visually "heavy". The mix of fabric and metal has a softness to it that feels Asian-inspired.
Orb Ceiling Fan with Light
Minimal and lovely, this gray and gold fan is sleek and pared down.
72” Rustic Windmill Ceiling Fan
Wood grain windmill-type vanes pair with curved bronze elements to create a statement fan. This fan has so many vanes it moves more air than other fans its size. The rustic feeling of this fan makes it one of our perennial favorites.
Stella Ceiling Fan with Light
This fan almost has the feeling of a honey dripper doesn't it? Or is it a bee hive? Well, either way, I don't think I've ever seen a more interesting, tapered and warm-feeling fan.
Tangier 60” Ceiling Fan
Love that this fan has so many vanes that it will really cool a space efficiently. The subtle tonal variation of the vanes and the body of this fan make it a modern asset in any space.
52” Whirligig Ceiling Fan
Just makes you want to say "whirligig", doesn't it? A cross between a flower petal and a propeller, this fan is a minimalistic masterpiece.
Workshop Ceiling Fan
With loads of gold tone accents, this fan is compact. The gold finish will warm up any space.
Some ceiling fan designer tips for you!
1. Try to avoid ceiling fans with lights in public spaces. By public spaces, I mean family rooms, dens, living rooms. Rarely an effective light because of the distance between the ceiling and the surface it is lighting, the ceiling fan lights are better relegated to bedrooms.
2. Go bigger than you think. The biggest mistake we see with ceiling fans is that they are under-scaled for the space. Yep, you've seen them. That 48" diameter ceiling fan in the 22' x 22' family room with soaring 18' ceilings.... A general rule of thumb is that you divide the width of your room by 2.5 to arrive at the size ceiling fan that will effectively move air in the space.
