Some ceiling fan designer tips for you!
1. Try to avoid ceiling fans with lights in public spaces. By public spaces, I mean family rooms, dens, living rooms. Rarely an effective light because of the distance between the ceiling and the surface it is lighting, the ceiling fan lights are better relegated to bedrooms.
2. Go bigger than you think. The biggest mistake we see with ceiling fans is that they are under-scaled for the space. Yep, you've seen them. That 48" diameter ceiling fan in the 22' x 22' family room with soaring 18' ceilings.... A general rule of thumb is that you divide the width of your room by 2.5 to arrive at the size ceiling fan that will effectively move air in the space.
